NPCC Area 15 ATC + SANA
back from another 3D2N NPCC ATC! and 2day…juz joined SANA as a volunteer instructor!
This time…went to Area15 ATC…this area is dominated by single-sex schools like ACS(Barker), Nanyang Girls, SJI, Raffles Girls and Hwa Chong…which made performance during campfire VERY INTERESTING (will share below) =)
Day 1
reached Changi Jetty @ 10.30am and waited 4 zhiguang…met up with the rest of the CIs and quickly made frens =) went directly 2 NPCC campsite to put down our stuff, prepare to pick the cadets up from Changi Jetty and finalise details for treasure hunt…only to find out that i hav 2 help take attendance 4 RGS…even though im an external CI (haiz…1st day already saikang).
waited for all e schools 2 arrive…took attendance…did all the necessary admin matters…then went back to ubin for treasure hunt briefing. became assistant grp instructor with tian ye as main grp instructor. Was assigned Grp E (later renamed Eeyore due to the campfire’s theme-DISNEY!!!). treasure hunt was rather bland…except for limited moments of fun and laughter. it was certainly energy-draining…returned to campsite ard 4.45pm feeling like a melted human
slacked all e way till dinner (although 1 unhappy event happened…but i promised to keep it under wraps). had a short debrief cum get-to-know-each-other-better session with the sec3 campers before heading off to instructors’ debrief (which lasted nearly 3hrs).
debrief was interrupted halfway due to heavy rain as we had to get the campers out of the tents and into the canteen area. campers were rather noisy and were moving very slowly which pissed off most of the CIs…so constant shouting and scoldings were heard all over the place. lucky 4 campers…the wind was so strong that rainwater "invaded" the canteen so the campers got to slp in the bunks (percentage that cadets get to slp in bunks is like 0.00000000000000001%…so they r one lucky bunch of ppl).
went over to the sec2 campsite with zhiguang and mingjun to accompany michelle after debrief…it was like 1.30am?! LOL! got a shock of my life…saw flying insects having HUGE party ard the lighted areas (especially the lamp posts)! had a ultra long talk cock session with zhiguang, mingjun, donovan(KO-ed quite early though) and michelle.
went back to sec3 campsite with zhiguang, mingjun, michelle and shamila (the females wanted to come over to bathe)…prepared supper using maggi mee, canned pineapples and other canned food. escorted michelle and shamila back to sec2 campsite before escorting michelle and lizhen to sec3 campsite…lol…did alot of walking that night. had supper…and more talking cock session before finally escorting michelle and lizhen back. talked more cock with zhiguang before finally slping @ 4.30am.
Day 2
woke up ard 6.30am…late for Physical Training (PT) but i guess it was ok since its not my duty XD! so juz stood there…pose abit…use eye power to spot for not-feeling-well cadets. after PT…went to makan breakfast (bread with lots of nutella)…then went to supervise toilet + dustbin cleaning up with zhiguang.
was appointed lifesaver + jetty jump instructor…togther with mingjun(boatman + jetty jump instructor) and 1 FI. initially i was at the boat slacking until mingjun requested me to be the demonstrator…i was like alamak…so bo bian…had to demonstrate the proper technique. stayed in the water to facilitate the jump and to save any panicking cadets.
after lunch…zhiguang became part of the crew…so it was like: mingjun as boatman + jetty jump instructor…zhiguang as platoon coordinator…me as lifesaver + jetty jump instructor…FI as overall conducting instructor. i jumped a total for at least 13times(inclusive of some random jumps while waiting for cadets) in juz 1day!!!
overall was not bad…and gained experience also…since it was my 1st time as jetty jump instructor =) had to save a handful of panicking cadets though (mostly females…dunno y also)…they panic so much until cant differentiate a lifebouy from a hand/arm. ask them hold on lifebouy…most of them end up grabbing my hand/arm…there was one cadet…so scared until muz hug me…i was like stunned! but luckily no one got injured (except for one who had a slight nosebleed due to impact) =)
campfire…like i said…had lots of weird performance! anw…was appointed to set up the firewood and to keep the fire burning together with zhiguang and mingjun…the whole process was rather fun…and all e other CIs say we too fierce already…dare to go so near the fire! (the best part was…we were considered as highly flammable cuz of our kerosene-covered hands)
now to the performance! like i said…this area is dominated by single-sex schs…so the performance 4 some reason were mostly based on love…but thats nt the point..the point is…when they performed…it was either 2males or 2females! i was like…HUH?!?! y so many gays and lesbians!!!! there was even a kissing scene between 2 guys!!!! (even though it was censored using a poncho…and they faked it and made it look real using their shadows…but still!!!!) ended the entire campfire with a performance by the CIs!
after settling the cadets…went over sec2 campsite to find michelle and donovan for talk cock session again…lol! but they were having grp debrief followed by instructors’ debrief =( so mingjun, zhiguang and i juz KO-ed at the benches there…not realising that we were THAT tired! so 3 of us went back sec3 campsite and slept till next morning.
Day 3 + SANA
last day of camp! and area cleaning day! this time i supervised the females tentage area. i hav 2 say…the cadets in area15 do things very efficiently and they follow instructions without questions also…muz applaud them! finished everything relatively early…so the CIs had time 2 eat our pineapple ‘ice-kacang’ (it was actually juz pineapple in frozen syrup) LOL!
went for lunch with majority of the instructors before heading down to Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA) HQ with zhiguang and michelle. became one of their volunteer instructors 2day! made more new frens too! haha! after everything…went to e "club house" and played pool and darts with the rest of the SANA instructors before going back home!
