juz returned from NPCC Sec 2 ATC @ Ubin!
Day1:
left sch at 2pm for Changi Jetty…reached ubin at abt 3pm and went 2 NPCC campsite. due to lack of manpower…had to help e sch in charge of logistics as they did not hav any CIs…so ended up moving boxes of rations, mess tins, stoves and solid fuels with help of cadets from other schools that came early.
waited for all e other schools 2 arrive…then started pitching tents for both the male and female cadets. again..due to lack of manpower..had to end up supervising the females. initially i had nothing 2 o..juz standing there posing abit (haha!)…until they couldnt peg in their pegs…so bo bian..had 2 help them peg in. cant really blame them though…the ground was rather hard and they were girls after all.
one by one…i helped them peg in e pegs…had to use alot of strength so when i started striking the pegs…sparks formed and the girls were like wow! so it was rather amusing when there was this short period whereby i suddenly see ppl crowding ard me juz to see sparks…LOL! anyway…it was tough work…pegged till i got blister =( sadly…as a first aider also…alot of cadets came looking 4 me cuz all got blister also.
by the time we finished..it was already night time…ard 8pm or so…so everyone had dinner..a short briefing abt the next day’s activities before going off 2 bed…
Day2:
probably the most tiring day of the camp. being the only first aider at the camp at that time…had to station at the first aid post till another first aider comes in…had already asked michelle to help out beforehand and she was supposed to reach at 8.30am but she only came in at 9am. the moment she came in…mins later…cadets started to stream in one by one like bees.
anyway…wasnt my problem anymore..so went 2 change 2 get ready for kayaking session as ill be the lifesaver in case of emergency. juz before i went out to sea…had to use up energy to help michelle by persuading the camp-coordinator to let her stay inside camp so she could study and take care of e casualties at the same time…cuz someone keep complaining…but i found out someone fell asleep while studying and doing first aid duty! aiyoyo *shakes head*
basically was out at sea 4 almost 8hrs…now my skin is very very red..i think im super burnt…the sun was so freaking hot…it was worse than being inside a sauna. but had a rather fun and interesting experience with the cadets (haha!) especially when i had to rescue them from drifting away. the rescue method was rather weird…another instructor and i had 2 go beside the cadets’ kayak and ask them to hold on tight to the sides of our kayak…then both of us were doing dragonboat style to bring them back to shore..LOL!
after all that..went to bathe and cool down myself before strolling back to e first aid post…talked cock with michelle, si qian and 2 other new CIs from river valley. after michelle left…we continued our talk cock session with the cadets this time…haha! sidetrack abit…haha…thanks michelle for helping out if nt ill die cuz i gotta teleport from land to sea and back to sea again and again…lol =) and yea..next time dun use SO MUCH cotton..plaster cant be helped..so its ok! haha!
dinner time! and before we know it…we are off to e sec3 campsite for combined campfire! initially the atmosphere was rather good and high but after a while…everyone juz died and the atmosphere was rather shitty…although the some CIs and I tried to help but it was to no avail…until the end when everyone joined in to sing the last song of the campfire. the entire campfire was juz filled with random stuff like asking cadets to act out a sentence. eg: He proposed to her but she rejected him.
after campfire…had supper with some CIs…were eating chicken rice, maggi mee and sardines..haha! the best part of the night was probably when e river valley CIs and i were making a mess in the kitchen trying the clear up the mess but yet keep making a mess out of a mess…LOL! the rest is rather unimportant…as i crawled back to e bunk and fell asleep soon after making sure the cadets hav already fallen asleep
Day3:
last day of camp! and area cleaning day! the cadets probably love and hate this day at the same time cuz area cleaning always meant…cleaning toilets, big huge dustbins and drains! luckily i had a team of cooperating cadets who were willing to go the extra mile. A big thank you and a round of applause for your efforts! i made a big sacrifice too…had to go inside the huge drain to flush out maggi noodles that was choking the "river" and pick up solid rubbish with my bare hands..eew! considering the smell was quite ARGH! and it was really digusting to see leftover baked beans, maggi and sardines..
well..we managed to finish area cleaning rather early..so it was good =) as usual…we always hav this give-away-food session just before we leave the campsite…cadets were snatching maggi and pineapple..it was rather chaotic..lol! left the campsite ard 10plus am due to the rain and off we go to e jetty to take e bumboat back to main island =)
this will probably be my last Area 16 ATC..so im glad i had fun and managed to meet interesting cadets..haha…especially the girls when they keep calling me "fireman" and "ironman" after my "performance" on "how to get sparks when pegging in ur pegs"…LOL! was also glad that this batch of cadets were rather easy to handle…so less stress =) had fun interacting with the CIs too…especially the new CIs from river valley..haha =)

so how difficult can the memory section be! the best part was…cuz there was this "rest time" in between sections so i decided to slack abit and saw that beside me were guys from RJC, CJC and Hwa Chong..already chionging to start the test. as they were doing e test…they actually went to memorise the numbers on e screen!!! i was like…wow…how intelligent can they be…got paper and pencil dun wan use…actually bothered 2 memorise!!! so i juz laughed to myself and happily started my memory test XD
